From July 16th to 18th, School of Accounting successfully held 2022 the 2nd Outstanding College Students Summer Camp. The summer camp held online, and 289 outstanding students from comprehensive universities such as Liaoning University, Anhui University, Qinghai University, Yanbian University, and finance and economics universities such as Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, Jilin University of Finance and Economics, Shandong University of Finance and Economics, Harbin University of Commerce enrolled. Eventually 182 students joined in the camp and won the title of "outstanding campers", including 61 students declared academic master and 121 students declared professional master. During the three-day summer camp, the students participated in group communication, listened to 3 academic lectures and 2 practical reports, and attended the remote interview in 18 groups, fully demonstrating their professional quality and comprehensive ability.
On the morning of July 16th, the opening ceremony of the summer camp was held online. The opening ceremony was presided over by Professor Yanli Chen, vice dean of School of Accounting, Qiongfeng Tang, vice dean of Graduate School, Professor Guangguo Sun, dean of School of Accounting, and the heads of the departments of School of Accounting attended the opening ceremony.
Qiongfeng Tang, vice dean of graduate school, first introduced the general situation of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, focusing on sharing the exploration and practice of graduate education in our university, and accurately interpreting the relevant policies of graduate enrollment and exam-free for graduate students (including direct doctoral students).
Professor Guangguo Sun, dean of School of Accounting, made the welcome speech. Dean Sun first introduced the location characteristics and city’s glamour of Dalian, and then briefly introduced the basic situation of our university and school, shared “four major career paths” of accounting major and “three thoughts” of the training of accounting professionals, and showed the “Three-wide Education, Five Education at the Same Time” of our school.
After the opening ceremony, the students were divided into 12 groups for communication. The academic masters were divided into 5 groups, with Dapeng Tang, Jun Bu, Wenzhang Sun, Shaowei Zhang, and Mei Zhao as their tutors. And the professional masters were divided into seven groups, with Fajing Cui, Yunyun Jin, Wei Xiong, Yue Yu, Tingting Zhang, Yuanyue Tan, Zhenyang Zhao as their tutors. The tutors of the 12 groups are all excellent young backbone teachers of School of Accounting. After nearly one and a half hours group communication, the campers fully appreciated the style of the young teachers of our school, introduced their personal information, and shared their plans for future study and work.
On the afternoon of July 16th, School of Accounting organized the “Famous Teachers’ Lecture Hall” activity given by three young teachers. The activity was presided over by Professor Xiaodong Zhang, director of the Department of Financial Management and doctoral supervisor. Professor Yunjiang Geng from the Department of Accounting gave the academic lecture titled “Entering the Metaverse of Management Accounting”. Associate Professor Wei Xiong from the Department of Financial Management gave the lecture titled “Case Competition and Hot Issues in Capital Market”. Associate Professor Haoran Xu, deputy director of the Department of Accounting, gave the lecture titled “Big Data, Text Analysis, and Accounting Research”.Three spectacular lectures gave the students a new appreciation of theoretical research and practical application of accounting. After the activity, all the campers wrote a study report or their insights on their own topic.
On July 17th, School of Accounting organized the online interview through the “Remote Interview System” of China Graduate Enrollment Information Network in Bo Xue Building. 63 teachers (108 person-time) from our school participated in this interview, with 182 students divided into 18 groups for remote interviews. The interview content included professional proficiency test, foreign language proficiency test, and comprehensive ability assessment.
The study report of the “Famous Teachers’ Lecture Hall” and interview result are the important bases to evaluate the students’ performance of the summer camp.
On the morning of July 18th, School of Accounting invited three practical experts to hold two exciting special presentations for all campers. The activity was presided over by Fajing Cui, director of the Department of Accounting. The first presentation titled “Digital Transformation of Enterprise Management and Audit Practice” was jointly presented by Mr. Taiping Liu, the partner in charge of Ernst&Young Dalian Branch, and Ms. Yuanfang Yu, the audit manager of Ernst&Young Dalian Branch, which showed the current situation of enterprise financial intelligence transformation under the digitalize background, and further introduced typical successful cases and financial fraud cases of digital revolution in the audit industry. The second presentation titled “Business Innovation in the Post ERP Era” was presented by Mr. Liang Zhao, the senior expert in digital intelligence of UFIDA Group, which introduced to the students that the development of Enterprise Resource Planning has entered the post ERP era. Intelligent manufacturing, industrial internet and value creation have become important motivations for enterprise innovation and development. Two professional practical presentations deeply impressed the students with the new trend of professional development in the digital and intelligent era, and empathized with the latest demand for professional talents from social development, and clarified their future direction of efforts.
On the afternoon of July 18th, the colorful summer camp came to an end. The closing ceremony was presided over by Professor Hui Luan, director of the Training Office of School of Accounting, and Professor Yanli Chen, vice dean of School of Accounting, delivered a concluding speech. Dean Chen gave a comprehensive and vivid summary under the theme of “Realize Your Dream in DUFE, Start a New Journey in Life”, reviewed the exciting and touching moments of the summer camp with the theme of “Record Growth, Freeze Excitement”, and showed the sustainable development period of School of Accounting and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics when Dongbei University of Finance and Economics is entering a new stage and era of “Double First-Class” construction and high-quality development. There will be a younger and more advanced multi-level “teaching+research+management” excellent team in the university and the school (departments) to provide services and safeguard for students’ growth and accomplishment, which is very promising. Dean Chen expressed Ardent expectations, sincere invitation and good wishes to the students under the theme of “Starting a New Journey, Together towards the Future”.
At the closing ceremony of the summer camp, Associate Professor Haoran Xu, deputy director of the Department of Accounting, and Associate Professor Kejing Chen, deputy director of the Department of Financial Management, announced the list of outstanding campers applying for academic master and professional master respectively. Chen Liu from Harbin University of Commerce and Jia’nuo Li from Liaoning University delivered speeches as student representatives, expressing their deep appreciation to the leaders and teachers of the school for their achievements and growth in participating in this summer camp. They also expressed their best wishes to all the campers.
So far, 2022 the 2nd Outstanding College Students Summer Camp of School of Accounting has come to a successful conclusion.
