In order to enhance fire safety awareness of teachers and students, better popularize the knowledge of self-rescue and improve fire escape ability, on June 18, 2023, the 22nd National “Safety Production Month”, teachers and students of the School of Accounting of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics went to Taiyuan Street Fire and Rescue Station in Shahekou District to carry out a visit and practice activity of “carrying forward the heroic spirit, popularizing firefighting knowledge”. Eighty people participated in the activity, including Haodong Wang, the instructor of Taiyuan Street Fire Rescue Station in Shahekou District, Bo Li and Jun Liu, the deputy directors of Dongbei University of Finance and Economics Security Office, Xiaofang Dong, the deputy secretary of the Party General Branch of the School of Accounting, Wei Xiong, the chairman of Labor Union of the School of Accounting, and representatives of the Security Office, administrators of the School of Accounting and student Party members and League members.
The fire commanders introduced the basic knowledge of firefighting to the students and teachers from four aspects: introduction to the team station, real-life cases of fire, basic knowledge of firefighting, and what to do when a fire occurs. By playing fire rescue videos, explaining fire cases and interpreting fire alarm and escape knowledge, the students and teachers deeply understood fire-related knowledge and skills, cultivated fire safety awareness and mastered fire escape ability.
Then Xiaofang Dong presented cultural and creative souvenirs of the School to Taiyuan Street Fire and Rescue Station in Shahekou District.
Bo Li expressed his gratitude to Taiyuan Street Fire and Rescue Station in Shahekou District for the strong support of this activity and the elaborate organization and arrangement of the School of Accounting, and also hoped that teachers and students would pay more attention to fire safety. Through the wonderful explanations and guidance of fire commanders, students can have a deeper understanding of fire safety knowledge, return to school to take up the responsibility of fire propagandists, let fire safety knowledge enter the campus, and jointly build a safe DUFE.

The fire commanders explained the operation and use of various fire-fighting equipment groups, demonstrated the performance and role of various fire rescue vehicles, and invited students to board the fire safety publicity vehicle for visit and learn. The detailed explanation and on-site demonstration of the Bolangtao 101m ascent platform fire truck aroused great interest of the students. This vehicle is currently the only one in Dalian, and also the highest ascent platform fire truck in Dalian, which once showed its heroic nature in the Triumph International Building fire.
This practical activity enhanced the safety awareness and self-rescue ability of students and teachers, promoted the spirit of firefighting heroes, and played an important role in popularizing fire safety knowledge and improving self-rescue ability. As one of the series of Party Day Activities themed “Loyalty and New Breakthrough” of the School of Accounting, this visit and learning activity further strengthened the awareness of fire safety, improved the ability of escape and self-rescue when dealing with fire safety accidents, and laid a solid foundation for the construction of a safe campus. Students and teachers expressed that they would strictly abide by the fire safety regulations in their future lives and spread fire safety knowledge to more people around them.
