From August 8th to 9th, 2023, the 2023 Asia Pacific Business Review (APBR) East Asia Workshop, hosted by the School of Business at Shantou University, was held in Shantou. The theme of this conference was "Learning to Survive: Business Organizations and Innovation Capabilities in East Asia after the Epidemic". Experts and scholars from domestic and foreign universities such as University of Oxford in the UK, Kansai Gaidai University in Japan, Rikkyo University in Japan, Hanyang University in South Korea, SKEMA Business School in France, Jilin University, Zhejiang University, and Dongbei University of Finance and Economics attended the meeting to jointly study organizational development and innovation issues during the post pandemic period.
The opening ceremony of the conference was co-chaired by Professor IngyuOh, Editor in Chief of APBR, and Associate Professor Gongxing Guo, Vice Dean of the School of Business at Shantou University, and Gongxing Guo delivered a speech for APBR East Asia Workshop. Professor Chris Rowley from the University of Oxford in the UK and Professor Ingyu Oh from Kansai Gaidai University in Japan respectively gave keynote speeches titled "The Chinese Economy after the Pandemic" and "East Asia after the Pandemic".
The conference selected 12 excellent papers from experts and scholars from China, Japan, and South Korea to participate in the report. Hengxin Zhang, a doctoral student at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, reported on the paper "Major Government Customers and Organizational Resilience to the Covid-19 Pandemic: Evidence from China", which he collaborated with his supervisor Professor Weimin Xie. This sparked a heated discussion among the attending delegates.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Ingyu Oh, the editor in chief of APBR, summarized the conference and delivered a closing speech.
